The Department is led by Dr. Kalpesh Joshi (MD), a consultant physician with special interest in diabetes and critical care, and Dr. Dhruti Bhagat (MBBS, Diploma in Critical Care), an expert in managing critically ill patients.
Dr. Joshi brings extensive experience, having served as Head of the Department of Medicine and critical care at Kasturba Multispeciality Hospital, a 240-bedded facility in Valsad for 12 years. He has also undergone critical care training at Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai, under renowned intensivists of India.
Dr. Dhruti Bhagat has been working in critical care for 13 years. She completed a two-year diploma in critical care from the Indo-Australian Society of Critical Care. With her specialized training and hands-on expertise, she ensures comprehensive and high-quality management of ICU and emergency cases.

- LATEST BIPHASIC Phillips defibrillator [HEART START XL PLUS] with facility of external pacing.
- Internal temporary pacemaker.
- All Fowler beds with eight different positions.
- Intellivue Serize central monitor with auto arrhythmias analysis.
- Bedside dialysis facility in ICU.
- 5 modern , highend ventilators from G.E.- Detax Ohmeda, Dragor
- Infusion and syringe pumps.
- Strict Protocols and SOPs based ICU with high nurse to patient ratio.
- Strict aseptic technique to reduce infection in ICU.
- Round the clock bedside portable 2 D-echo, Doppler, vascular Doppler and X-ray facility.
- Round the clock ABG and all lab facilities.
- Very comfortable patient’s relatives room with relaxing chairs, television, toilet and bathroom.
- Round the clock medical officer with back-up of physicians and intesivist.
ICU:
Total of 15 beds, including a dedicated 6-bed unit for cardiac and non-infectious patients.
10 advanced ventilators, 2 BiPAP machines, and 1 transport ventilator.
Equipped with Philips IntelliVue MP-20 and MP-5 monitors for invasive and non-invasive BP and CVP monitoring.
Bedside dialysis, portable 2D echo, Doppler, vascular Doppler, and X-ray services available round the clock.
Latest biphasic defibrillator (Philips Heart Start XL Plus) with external pacing and temporary pacemaker facilities.
All Fowler beds with eight adjustable positions and IntelliVue Series central monitoring with auto arrhythmia analysis.
Strict aseptic protocols and high nurse-to-patient ratios to reduce infection rates.

Dr. Kalpesh Joshi
Dr. Kalpesh Joshi is a distinguished consultant physician with a special interest in diabetes and critical care. He completed his MD (Medicine) from Surat Medical College in 1997. Subsequently, he gained extensive experience working in the Intensive Care Units of prestigious institutions like Hinduja Hospital and Sir H.N. Hospital, Mumbai.
He served as the Head of the Department of Medicine and a senior physician at Kasturba Multispeciality Hospital, a 240-bedded facility in Valsad. Currently, he is the Medical Director and Chairman of Utkarsh Healthcare India Pvt. Ltd., which operates Lotus Hospital, a 99-bedded state-of-the-art multispecialty hospital in Valsad, Gujarat.
Dr. Joshi holds a “Certificate in Diabetes” awarded for successfully completing a one-year distance education course conducted by Prof. M. Viswanathan Diabetes Research Centre, Chennai (2011–2012). Additionally, he earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Geriatric Medicine through the IMA Distance Learning Programme. He has actively participated in numerous seminars, workshops, and conferences on diabetes both in India and internationally.
A prominent figure in the medical community, Dr. Joshi has served in various leadership roles, including as President and Secretary of the IMA-Valsad Branch. He is also the current Secretary of ISCCM (Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine), Valsad Branch.
Beyond his medical achievements, Dr. Joshi is a passionate athlete. He has participated in numerous full marathons and long-distance cycling events around the world. His dedication to fitness inspired him to co-found the Valsad Racers Group with his friends, promoting running, cycling, and swimming in Valsad and surrounding areas.
Dr. Joshi is also a committed health educator, leveraging his social media platforms and podcasts to raise awareness about health and wellness. Through his initiatives, he has inspired many to adopt healthier lifestyles.
